Key questions in exoplanet demographics: the power of ultra-high precision astrometry

I will briefly summarize the major breakthroughs obtained to-date in the field of exoplanet demographics, which has developed fast during the past decade leveraging the sample of thousands of exoplanets detected and characterized. I will then focus on the key open questions in the field that, over the next 25 years, in order to be properly addressed will require the decisive contribution of ultra-high precision astrometry, discussing the power of the technique in the broader context of ongoing and planned efforts employing other observing channels.
